Two different, yet quite analogous pages of the
Oromo Wikipedia
seem to give contradicting information about the word
"flag" in Oromo: In the page about
Ethiopia
it is "bandirra", yet in the page about
Oromia it is
"allaba".
Curiously, both appear to have evident etymologies, from
external influence: "bandirra" comes
from the large tree rooted at late Latin
*"bandarius",
either through Italian,
Portuguese,
Arabic or
Swahili,
while "allaba"
shares a common etym (Arabic?)
with unrelated and distant languages such as
Kurdish or
Chuvash.
